MAGA operative Laura Loomer accused GOP Conference Chair Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI) of working on behalf of the Qatari government in an unhinged post on X.
Loomer based her post on a video she received of McClain dancing at the Qatari embassy on July 4. She also claimed to have a memo implicating McClain in leaking information that could damage the federal government to the Qataris. Loomer added that the information could lead to a "major ethics violation."
"Congress is no longer a serious place," Loomer's post reads in part. "Lisa McClain should resign over her betrayal of her fellow Committee Members and the United States in favor of Qatar and the Dancing Qataris."
Loomer's post represents yet another sign in the fracturing of President Donald Trump's MAGA base following its decision not to release the Jeffrey Epstein files to the public, as Trump and his surrogates promised throughout the campaign.
Attorney General Pam Bondi claimed during a press conference that "no further information" would be forthcoming about the Epstein case. Bondi also said the Justice Department thinks Epstein died by suicide while in jail, which contradicts MAGA's version of the story.
Loomer holds considerable political clout within the Trump administration. She reportedly has had multiple direct conversations with Trump about policy issues and White House staffing. For instance, she convinced Trump to fire multiple national security professionals following the Signalgate controversy in April.
