When a black bear manages to get into a person’s house, it usually just opens a door, but a bear in Kentucky recently climbed a ladder into an attic before before crashing through the ceiling into the kitchen, officials said.

The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Department on Sunday shared photos of a small black bear perched atop a homeowner’s stove, which is where Game Warden Derick Creech found it at around 5 a.m. on May 21.

Creech responded to a call about a bear inside a residence in Bell County, in southeastern Kentucky, and arrived to find the animal sitting on the stove. Creech and a Bell County Sheriff’s deputy were able to “run the bear out through an open door,” wildlife officials said.

Upon further investigation, it was determined the bear had climbed an outside ladder and “squeezed through an opening into the attic.” The bear then fell through the ceiling into the home below.
