Kevin Costner has been caught up in a bombshell lawsuit over a money deal that went sour — and it’s got the Yellowstone alum on his last nerve.
The superstar, 70, is set to lose millions in the fallout from a messy dispute involving his passion project Horizon: An American Saga.
Financial backers of the movie — which bombed with viewers despite Costner hyping it to the rooftops and investing $38 million of his own cash — claim that the actor’s financiers went back on their word, and the two sides are now embroiled in a high-stakes standoff over who picks up the cash.
At the same time, stuntwoman Devyn LaBella, 34, has filed a complaint against Kevin and the Horizon production companies, claiming she was “the victim of a violent unscripted, unscheduled rape scene” in the Costner-directed movie. Costner’s lawyers say the allegations have “absolutely no merit,” but sources say that Costner — once worth an estimated $400 million, thanks to his stellar movie and TV career — is worried about the devastating impact these money drains will have on his already depleted savings.
“Horizon was an epic failure that bled a lot of money out of him and didn’t get much viewing,” an insider tells the National ENQUIRER. “He’s still picking himself up off the floor over that, and now he’s got this beast of a lawsuit threatening to get seriously costly and he’s smack-bang in the firing line unless his legal team can find a Hail Mary solution.”
As readers know, Costner was also walloped in the wallet by his early 2024 divorce from Christine Baumgartner, 51, with whom he’s raised three kids. Though a judge slapped down her initial claim to almost $250,000 a month in child support, he wound up being on the hook for over $63,000.
Adding insult to injury, Christine is now engaged to Kevin’s former friend Josh Connor, and the ENQUIRER previously revealed how the pair is planning to spend a fortune on their upcoming nuptials, much to Costner’s bitter resentment.
“Even though Kevin got off comparatively lightly, he’ll be shelling out child support for years to come,” says a source. “It gets him down big-time. He’s morose and panicked over what this new development means. It’s no secret he’s been having money woes for a while before this lawsuit dropped on him. He’ll have to downsize a lot more on his lavish lifestyle from now on.”
