Authorities in Colorado are seeking the public’s help identifying a woman who broke into an animal service building in an apparent attempt to bring in a dog after hours, leading the animal to walk over broken glass but ultimately failing to get inside.

The Arapahoe County Sheriffs Office on Wednesday released a surveillance video of the June 27 incident, and asked for the public’s help identifying the woman.

At around 7 p.m. on June 27, the unidentified woman arrived at the Centennial Animal Services building at 7272 S. Eagle St. in Centennial in a gray four-door sedan. She can be seen outside glass front doors of the building alongside a light-colored Labrador Retriever mix dog that appears thin.

After initially finding the door locked, she knocked on the doors and paced “for about 30 minutes as she became increasingly irritated while knocking harder,” the sheriff’s office said. She finally walked back to her car and retrieved a tire iron. After failing to pry the doors open, she uses the tire iron to shatter the glass.

She enters the foyer with the dog, which can be seen in the video walking over the broken glass on the ground. She approaches a second set of glass double doors which are also locked. When she is unable to open or break those doors, at around 7:40 p.m., she leaves and drives away with the dog.

“That poor dog is walking on glass and the dogs really skinny,” ACSO Public Information Officer Ginger Delgado told KDVR. “Were concerned about the well-being of the dog. We dont know if its her dog, or maybe she was trying to turn the dog in, we have no idea.”

The sheriff’s office says the damage is estimated to be between $8,000 and $10,000.

The woman is described as white, age 25–35, standing between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with dark blonde hair. She was wearing a pink shirt, black pants or leggings and sunglasses.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who recognizes the woman or has information about the incident to call the Arapahoe County Sheriffs Office Investigation Tip Line at 720-874-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
